General Questions
What does NFJ Services LTD do?
We help with practical jobs around homes and businesses, including the small jobs that are easy to put off.
This includes electrical work, internet cabling, WiFi improvements, CCTV, TV mounting, smart devices, Starlink setup and general maintenance.
Do you take on small jobs?
Yes. Small jobs are welcome, whether that is a tidy-up, a small fix, a single TV, one network point, a socket issue, a smart device setup or practical maintenance.
If you are not sure whether it is worth asking, send us a message and we can tell you honestly.
Will you try to sell me extra work?
No. We may point out something important if we notice it, but we will not pressure you to add work you have not asked for.
The customer leads the way. The quoted job is what we complete unless you ask us to add more, or an unforeseen issue means the plan needs to be discussed.
Do you work in homes and businesses?
Yes. We work in normal homes, offices, shops, small business units, garden rooms and outbuildings.
What areas do you cover?
We mainly cover Cheshire, Lancashire and Merseyside.
This includes areas such as Warrington, Runcorn, Widnes, Chester, Ellesmere Port, Liverpool, St Helens, Southport, Preston, Chorley, Leyland, Wigan, Skelmersdale and nearby towns.
Can you tell me what I need before I book?
Yes. If you are unsure what you need, just send us a message with a short description and photos if you have them.
We can usually point you in the right direction before arranging a visit.
Can I send photos of the job?
Yes, photos are very helpful. They help us understand the job, the space, the wiring, the walls, or where equipment needs to go.
WiFi, Routers & Internet
What is mesh WiFi in simple terms?
Mesh WiFi uses more than one WiFi box around your home or business.
Instead of all your WiFi coming from one router, extra WiFi boxes help spread the signal into more rooms.
Why is my WiFi good downstairs but bad upstairs?
This is usually because the WiFi signal is struggling to travel through walls, ceilings, furniture or distance.
The router may also be in a poor place, such as behind a TV, inside a cupboard or at one end of the house.
Will better WiFi make my internet faster?
It can make your internet feel much faster in rooms where the WiFi is currently weak.
It cannot make your broadband package faster than what you pay your provider for, but it can help you get a better connection around the property.
Why is the router from my internet provider not always good enough?
Most provider routers are made to be basic and cheap enough for average use.
They can struggle in larger homes, older houses with thick walls, busy homes with lots of devices, or places with CCTV, smart TVs, games consoles and home working equipment.
A better router or WiFi system can give stronger coverage and a more stable connection.
What is a WiFi booster?
A WiFi booster tries to repeat your existing WiFi signal.
They can help in some homes, but if the booster is repeating a weak signal, the result can still be poor.
Can you get WiFi into a garden room?
Yes. The best way is usually to run a proper cable from the house to the garden room, then fit a WiFi point inside the garden room.
This is normally much better than trying to stretch the house WiFi through walls and across the garden.
What is Starlink?
Starlink is internet that comes from satellites instead of a normal phone line or fibre cable.
It can be useful in places where normal broadband is slow or not available.
We can help with positioning, cable routing and connecting Starlink into your home or business network.
Network Cables
What is network cabling?
Network cabling is internet cable fitted around your home or business.
It lets devices connect with a cable instead of relying on WiFi. This is often faster and more reliable.
Is a cable better than WiFi?
For fixed devices, yes. A cable is usually better for things that do not move.
This includes smart TVs, games consoles, office computers, CCTV recorders, WiFi access points and media equipment.
What is Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, Cat7 and Cat8?
These are different types of internet cable. The higher numbers are usually made for better performance, but you do not always need the highest one.
- Cat5e: Good for many basic jobs.
- Cat6: A strong choice for most homes and small businesses.
- Cat6A: Better for longer runs and faster networks.
- Cat7: Not usually needed for normal home installs.
- Cat8: Usually for specialist equipment, not normal homes.
Can you put internet sockets in different rooms?
Yes. We can install network points in useful places such as offices, TV areas, bedrooms, lofts, garden rooms and business areas.
Can you tidy a messy internet cabinet or cupboard?
Yes. If your network cabinet, router area or cable cupboard is messy, we can help tidy it up.
This can include labelling cables, removing unused items, sorting patch leads and checking for obvious faults.
Can you find out why my internet cable is not working?
Yes. We can test and check network cables, sockets and connections to help find the problem.
CCTV, TVs & Smart Tech
Do you install CCTV cameras?
Yes. We can install CCTV cameras for homes and businesses.
We can help with where to place cameras, how to run the cables neatly and how to get the system set up.
Is wired CCTV better than wireless CCTV?
Wired CCTV is usually more reliable because it does not depend on WiFi signal.
Wireless cameras can work well in some places, but wired cameras are normally better for long-term reliability.
Can you mount my TV on the wall?
Yes. We can help mount TVs and make the setup look neater.
We can also help with cable management, media wall cabling and planning where equipment should go.
Can you hide TV wires?
In many cases, yes. The best method depends on the wall, the room and what equipment is being connected.
We can advise what is possible and what will give the cleanest finish.
What is a smart home device?
A smart home device is something that connects to your phone, WiFi or home network.
This could be a camera, doorbell, light, speaker, thermostat, smart plug or other connected device.
Can you set up smart home devices for me?
Yes. We can help install and set up smart devices so they are connected properly and easier to use.
Payments, Quotes & Booking
How do I get a quote?
Send us a message with your name, location and what you need doing.
If you can, include photos. This helps us understand the job much faster.
Quotes are based on the information available at the time. Labour can be quoted clearly, but parts and materials may change if supplier prices or requirements change before or during the job.
Do you take card payments?
Yes. We accept major credit and debit cards, including Visa and Mastercard.
Apple Pay and Google Pay may also be available.
When do I pay?
Unless agreed otherwise, payment is due when the work is finished.
Some larger jobs may need a deposit before work starts.

The most helpful details are:
- Your name

- What you need help with
- Photos if possible
- When you would like the work done
